Accreditation

With a number of options for accreditation, providers will share a range of core values with specific additional requirements that will differentiate between Centres of Excellence and Academy Centres and between sector specific or thematic specialists.

The Academy welcomes Expressions of Interest from publicly funded and private or commercial training providers. Our ultimate aim is to develop strong national and regional networks capable of meeting the full range of skills needs of the Chemical, Polymer and Pharmaceutical, Downstream Petroleum, Advanced Composites and Industrial Biotechnology industries, enabling employers to benchmark, train and accredit, and record the achievements of their staff against the relevant Gold Standard frameworks for their industry.

How it works

Accredited Providers will operate within one or more sector based or thematic based groups:

  • Sector based
    • Polymers
    • Chemicals
    • Pharmaceuticals
    • Downstream Petroleum
    • Advanced Composites
    • Industrial Biotechnology

  • Thematic based
    • Technical Competence
    • Business Improvement
    • Compliance
    • Leadership & Management

Within each group a common agenda will be set focussing on coordinated CPD activities, Continuous Improvement, Sharing of Best Practice and Knowledge & Technology Transfer.

The Provider Network

For Accredited Providers we will be offering an enhanced route to market, providing a distinct marketing advantage through our online Skills Passport and creating opportunities to engage with employers through participation in an annual programme of national and regional workshops and seminars dealing with current industry skills issues.

The Academy recognises the expertise in programme and course development that exists within the provider base. We will work closely with industry and the provider network, first to review and endorse existing short courses that meet industry needs, and ultimately to establish a Process Industries Training Framework with quality assured short course programmes.

Finally, recognising the potentially high level of investment in premises and capital equipment required to support successful skills programmes, we will seek to lever in additional revenue and capital funds to provide the resources needed for the Accredited Providers within our Academy Provider Group to continually innovate and improve Academy licensed provision for the Process Industries.
