The Applied Science department of Wirral Metropolitan College
is an experienced provider of industrial training that has served
most of the major companies within Wirral, Cheshire and surrounding
area for many years. For employers we are able to adapt our
delivery models to meet the constraints of your business
needs.
We act as a hub for the delivery of PAA-VQSET, BTEC, NEBOSH,
City and Guilds qualifications, including NVQ (process, warehousing
and laboratory) and apprenticeships are delivered.
With highly qualified tutors in engineering, chemistry,
biology, physics, environmental science, and mathematics we have
experience in the writing and delivery of bespoke courses for the
sector. Our health, safety and environmental management unit won a
national Association of Colleges Gold Award for the excellence of
its course delivery. Wirral Met is the lead in the North West for
STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) which
involves leading on the coordination of innovation and best
practice in science teaching and learning across the FE
sector.
We operate various delivery
models ranging from workplace (Open Flexible) delivery to campus
based courses. The latter includes full/part day release, evening
only and block delivery. Open flexible delivery (OFL) is supported
by a virtual learning environment that learners can access from any
internet PC/laptop. Our core aim is to maximise support to the
learner and the proof of this approach is shown by having success
rates that are significantly above the national
average.
