Ian Fyfe - Nominations

Ian FyfeINEOS Olefins and Polymers

Ian was educated at The Manchester Grammar School and at The University of St. Andrews (MA Hons French Literature and Language), where he graduated in 1980.

He started work in Transport and Logistics Management before moving into HR work as Industrial Relations Manager with British Alcan in 1986. He was recruited by BP Chemicals at Grangemouth in 1990 as Personnel Officer. In 1998, he was asked to lead the UK piece of BP’s major HR outsourcing project in London and returned to BP Grangemouth in 2001 to lead the people aspects of a major restructuring exercise. He became HR Manager, BP Grangemouth in 2003. BP Grangemouth became part of Innovene in 2005 before being sold to INEOS in December of that year. INEOS made him HR Director of their European Olefins business and the role also includes accountability for the Grangemouth site as well as UK responsibility for the ex-Innovene personnel in the INEOS head office in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. The Grangemouth site employs 1,400 INEOS people and the technical training, competence and capability agenda is a major part of the INEOS strategy as the company strives to transform the performance of the Grangemouth assets. The HR team at Grangemouth comprises 17 people.

Outside of work, he is a recently-retired Grade 1 Scottish Football Association referee (retired on age grounds!) and he officiated in over 50 Scottish Premier League matches in his time as well as hundreds of Scottish Football League games. He is now a senior referee coach and assessor.

He is allegedly an 11-handicap golfer and a Manchester United fanatic! Ian is married to Eleanor and has two sons, Robert aged 19 and Scott aged 17.
